After finishing the 2025 NFL season with a 3-14 record, the Tennessee Titans are headed in the right direction after the offseason.

The team hired Robert Saleh to become the next head coach. Brian Daboll is the new offensive coordinator. The team drafted Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick in the 2026 draft, adding another weapon to the receiving core. Tennessee also signed Wan’Dale Robinson to a $70 million contract.

With the new coaching staff and additions to the offense, this could play a big role in Cam Ward‘s development as he enters his sophomore season.

Titans All-Pro defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons appeared on CBS Sports’ Offseason Playbook and spoke highly of the young quarterback ahead of the 2026 season.

Cam Ward threw for 3,169 yards, 15 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in his rookie season, decent numbers for a team that went 3-14. The surrounding pieces for Ward changed in the 2026 offseason, making it easier for him to develop after a rough start to his career.

Teammate Jeffery Simmons appeared on the Offseason Playbook show, believing Ward will have no issue developing in his second season, calling him “our guy.”

“The growth of Cam is gonna be easy,” Simmons said on the show. “It’s gonna be easy for everyone else around him. If he can grow going into year 2, we all saw the plays that he made this past year. Now, you got a great quarterback coach, you got a great offensive coordinator to help Cam grow… Once he takes that step, that’s all that matters.”

“Turn on the tape… But the hype and going into year 2, and like I said, it’s up to Cam to take that next step and growth, but I feel like we found our guy.”

New offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has mentioned that he has been picking up the offense quickly, calling him a young professional who seeks to be great.

Starting the offseason training on a good note and with new pieces in the offense, Cam Ward could be in line to have a strong season — the QB has also been predicted to have a strong season and jump to “stardom” from Bleacher Report.

Robert Saleh joins the Tennessee Titans organization in his second head-coaching job, following a stint as the San Francisco 49ers‘ defensive coordinator in the 2025 season.

To help develop Cam Ward in his second season, Saleh has revealed the team will take a slower approach for the quarterback.

“For Cam, I’ve said it before: We’re going to take him back to his rookie year, to square one,” Saleh said, via the Titans. “We can take kind of a marathon approach with him, where we have Phase 1, we have Phase 2, we have different ways we can approach him between now and Week 1 (of the season) to get him prepared.”

“So, just taking those baby steps, learning everything it takes to be a quarterback, not just on the field but off the field… So, him just being his best and getting better every day will be good enough.”
