The Tennessee Titans could be moving a quarterback during the NFL Draft, which could help the team build the roster for 2026.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted that the Titans quarterback Will Levis “could gain interest” from other teams during the draft. Once a draft free-faller, Levis hasn’t panned out in Nashville and could use a change of scenery.

A Massachusetts native, Levis became one of the top quarterbacks in college football during the 2021 and 2022 seasons at Kentucky. His draft stock rose because of that, but he careened down the draft board in 2023 and landed during the second round despite expectations of a first-round pick.

Tennessee signed him to a four-year, $9.54 million rookie contract in 2023 as the No. 33 pick, and Levis has one year left on the deal. Levis didn’t play a snap in 2025 due to a shoulder injury that required surgery.

That gave way to Cam Ward, the No. 1 pick in 2025, landing the starting job. Ward completed 59.8% of his passes for 3,169 yards and 15 touchdowns versus seven picks in 17 games last season with a 3-14 record.

Levis didn’t have much more success in the previous two seasons with 21 starts for the Titans. He went 3-6 in 2023 as he completed 58.4% of his passes for 1,808 yards and eight touchdowns versus four picks. In 2024, he went 2-10 with a 63.1% completion rate for 2,091 yards and 13 touchdowns versus 12 picks.

Titans Insider Calls Will Levis Trade ‘Unavoidable’

Titans insider Nick Suss of the Tennessean fully expects that the team will trade Levis.

“The expectation that the Titans will trade Levis has been unavoidable since Ward’s selection in the 2025 draft,” Suss wrote on April 8. “His surgery pushed back the timeline, but the team’s acquisition of Trubisky is a potential re-escalator. Trubisky’s as reliable and sturdy as backup options go, so even if Ward’s injury lingers, Levis is expendable.”

“The fact that Levis has even stuck around this far into Ward’s career is a minor miracle,” Suss added. “Don’t be overly optimistic about the Levis market, though — 16 quarterback trades have been processed across the league since the last time a backup quarterback fetched more than a fifth-round pick in return.”

Landing Spots For Will Levis

Tennessee could have numerous options to trade Levis since multiple teams have backup quarterback needs.

The Los Angeles Rams, for instance, could use another backup behind Matthew Stafford since Stetson Bennett has limited experience. Likewise, the Los Angeles Chargers could go for an additional backup for Justin Herbert since Trey Lance hasn’t played regularly throughout his career.

While trades don’t often happen within a division, the Jacksonville Jaguars could benefit from more experience behind starter Trevor Lawrence and backup Nick Mullens. The New England Patriots could also seek another seasoned backup, such as Levis, since Drake Maye’s backup is Tommy DeVito, who has 12 career games of experience.

Similarly, the Pittsburgh Steelers need another veteran backup amid the unknowns of Aaron Rodgers’ future. The Steelers currently have Mason Rudolph and Will Howard on the depth chart, and Howard didn’t play a snap last season.

Baker Mayfield could use another seasoned backup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the signing of Jake Browning. While Browning has succeeded in the past, 2025 didn’t go well for him with the Cincinnati Bengals in relief of Joe Burrow.
