The Commanders are tweaking their wide receiver room ahead of the Week 15 game against the Giants.
Washington announced Tuesday it re-signed Chris Moore and released River Cracraft.
Moore, a 2016 fourth-round pick of the Ravens, has 148 catches for 1,902 yards and nine touchdowns in nine NFL seasons.
Moore Was Recently Cut by Commanders
In 11 games with the Commanders this season, the 32-year-old Moore has 10 catches on 22 targets for 192 yards and a touchdown, a 22-yarder from Jayden Daniels in a 25-24 loss to the Bears in Week 6.
Moore was waived on Saturday ahead of Washington’s 31-0 loss to the Vikings in which Daniels was hurt. The 2024 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year threw for just 78 yards and an interception before leaving midway through the third quarter after landing hard on the left elbow he dislocated last month. Daniels was replaced by Marcus Mariota.
The Commanders finished with just 206 total yards and dropped to 3-11, continuing down the path of disappointment on the heels of last season’s trip to the NFC title game.
Journeyman WR Joined Commanders Last Season
Moore spent his first four NFL seasons with the Ravens, recording a career-best three touchdown catches in 2017.
From there, Moore signed a one-year deal with the Texans in 2021 but was cut and later re-signed to the practice squad. His most productive season came with Houston in 2022 when he made 48 catches on 74 targets for 548 yards and two touchdowns.
Moore’s also had stints with the Titans (2023) and Cardinals (2024).
He initially joined the Commanders’ practice squad last December and stayed with the team through the offseason and training camp. He’s been targeted at least once in seven of the 11 games he’s played in this season in addition to providing value on special teams.
His return comes at a time when the Commanders are fighting injuries. Receiver Luke McCaffrey (collarbone) and tight end Zach Ertz (knee) are both on injured reserve.
