The NHL trade deadline is less than two days away, and the rumors are starting to heat up from all angles. NHL reporters across the league are gathering all the intel, and the Carolina Hurricanes are expected to be engaged in many of the conversations. Should the Hurricanes Trade for Jordan Kyrou?

GettyTrade idea has Hurricanes acquiring Jordan Kyrou.
With the St. Louis Blues almost certainly being sellers, several NHL teams will be calling for their star players. Jordan Binnington is rumored to a potential trade, but nothing has materialized on that front. It’s the same situation as Jordan Kyrou, but TheAthletic does propose a good reason for him being moved:
“Kyrou’s name circled through the rumor mill before his no-movement clause officially took effect on July 1, and it resurfaced abruptly in November when he was made a healthy scratch by the scuffling Blues. While his production is a shade off its usual level, Kyrou remains a highly skilled winger who possesses an enviable toolkit: blinding speed, high-end vision, and creativity to spare.”
Being that he’s signed through 2031 on an eight-year, $65 million contract with a $8.125 million cap hit, he surfaces as a strong trade candidate.
In 51 games played this season, Kyrou has 14 goals and 19 assists. Overall, his shot percentage is down, but as Johnston mentions, his skillset is strong enough to trade for. The Hurricanes could move him into their second or third right-wing position behind Seth Jarvis

What Would it Take to Acquire Jordan Kyrou?
If the St. Louis Blues are really selling, that fact might drive the price down a little bit on some players. For instance, if the Hurricanes agreed to take on Kyrou’s contract, it might lead to Carolina having to give up less.
That would benefit the Hurricanes, but with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Bradly Nadeau likely not being moved, Carolina would either have to offer some draft capital or some young prospects.
The only issue is that Carolina would be competing with other contending NHL clubs like the Detroit Red Wings and Dallas Stars, both of whom are looking for versatile defenders to add before a playoff push.
