There have not been very many positives this season for the New York Rangers, who are on track to come nowhere close to a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second consecutive season and have already traded away their top forward in Artemi Panarin to the opposite coast of the continent early last month.
Panarin was traded to the Los Angeles Kings, and he likely won’t be the only player that the club parts ways with now that the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline is only days away (Friday, 3:00 p.m. ET).
The Rangers, who have an abysmal home record so far this season, nearly managed to pull off a miraculous comeback against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday evening at Madison Square Garden.
They trailed by a 4-0 score, only to storm back to knot the game at 4-4 apiece before the Blue Jackets eventually prevailed in extra time.
Rangers team captain J.T. Miller, who has earned heavy criticism for his lackluster play and uninspiring answers to questions after games, called out Rangers fans who were in attendance at MSG for voicing their displeasure by booing.

New York Rangers Team Captain J.T. Miller Called Out Fans For Booing
During his postgame media session in the Rangers dressing room, Miller said that he felt it was “demoralizing” hearing fans boo the team after they went down by a 3-0 score.
“The momentum shifted back in the second period,” Miller said afterward. “We had a great start, drew a penalty, scored on the power play and it’s funny how the game works. All of a sudden, it’s 3-0, they’re booing again and it’s hard, so it’s a roller coaster of emotions sometimes.
Given that Miller is not only a professional athlete but the team captain of a historic Original Six club like the Rangers, he shouldn’t be too surprised that the fans, who continue to shell out big money for some of the most expensive tickets in the NHL, voiced their displeasure.
In what is a startling pair of statistics, the Rangers have gone 99 days without a home victory in New York. Additionally, they’ve failed to score a single goal in a whopping seven home games (nine overall) this season, the worst mark in the NHL.

Miller Was Placed On Injured Reserve On Tuesday
It’s been nearly 100 days since the Rangers last won a game in regulation on home ice, and if they’re to break that streak, they’ll have to do it without Miller.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Rangers announced that Miller was placed on Injured Reserve.
There haven’t been any specific reports indicating what kind of injury Miller has, considering that he played the entire game on Monday against Columbus and didn’t appear to be banged up afterward.
Miller, who helped Team USA win a historic gold medal late last month in Milan, will have to watch from the press box as his team struggles to finish out what remains of a rotten regular season and a campaign that they’ll want to flush immediately as soon as it comes to a merciful end.
