The Toronto Maple Leafs added multiple forwards to their roster this offseason. Matias Maccelli, Dakota Joshua, and Nicolas Roy are their most notable additions of the summer.
Seeing the Maple Leafs add to their roster this summer was understandable, as they lost superstar Mitch Marner. Yet, when looking at their current group, it is apparent that they have too many bottom-six forwards.
Due to this, some Maple Leafs forwards have been in the rumor mill throughout this offseason. Calle Jarnkrok is one of them, and his name has only continued to create chatter as the summer rolls on.
Because of this, Heavy Sports has a trade proposal that has the Maple Leafs sending Jarnkrok to the Nashville Predators in a cap dump move.

- Calle Jarnkrok
Maple Leafs Get:
- 2027 Sixth-Round Pick
Maple Leafs Have Made Jarnkrok Available for Trade
With the Maple Leafs having a surplus of forwards, Jankrok’s spot in the lineup is not necessarily set in stone. Because of this, he has been the subject of trade rumors all offseason, and this has not stopped with the 2025-26 season almost here.
The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta recently reported that the Maple Leafs are still open to trading both Jarnkrok and forward David Kampf.
“Also on the Leafs, forwards David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok remain available for trade,” Pagnotta wrote.
With Jarnkrok entering the final season of his deal and having a $2.1 million cap hit, it is understandable that the Maple Leafs are willing to move him. The Maple Leafs have limited cap space, and Jarnkrok’s cap hit is a bit expensive for his current role. If Toronto were to move out Jarnkrok’s contract, it would give them more money to work with. This would open the door for them to try to upgrade their roster elsewhere.
Jarnkrok Would Improve Predators’ Forward Group
When looking at the Predators’ current roster, it is fair to argue that their bottom six could use a boost. Bringing in Jarnkrok would give them just that, as he provides solid depth offensive production when playing at his best. Furthermore, he is capable of playing all three forward positions, so the Predators could fit him virtually anywhere in their bottom six.
Yet, when looking for a specific spot for Jarnkrok in Nashville’s lineup, he could fit in nicely on their third line at right wing. Furthermore, due to his solid defensive play, he would also work on the Predators’ penalty kill.
Jarnkrok Is a Player the Predators Know Well
Another reason why the Predators could make sense as a landing spot for Jarnkrok is that they already know him very well. The 33-year-old forward spent eight seasons with the Predators from 2013-14 to 2020-21, posting 94 goals and 211 points. This included recording at least 15 goals and 30 points in four different seasons with the Predators. Thus, he undoubtedly made an impact during his days in Nashville.
With the Predators looking to turn things back around, it could make sense for them to take a shot on a familiar player like Jarnkrok. He would also offer them another veteran to help mentor their younger players, which would not be a bad thing.
In the end, this trade proposal could be a win for both teams. The Maple Leafs would get a draft pick, but more importantly, free up cap space. The Predators, on the other hand, would buy low on a player they know well and improve their forward depth.
