The Toronto Maple Leafs have been anything but healthy this season, as several key players have missed multiple games because of various injuries, including the likes of Auston Matthews, Anthony Stolarz, William Nylander, and Chris Tanev.
But just as they welcomed Nylander back to the lineup for the first time in six games, they’ve lost yet another important player. Defenseman Morgan Rielly, who has had to carry an even bigger load thanks to the absence of Tanev, suffered an upper-body injury during Saturday evening’s contest against the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena in downtown Vancouver.
What’s worse, the Maple Leafs have already officially ruled him out for the rest of the contest.
“D Morgan Rielly will not return to tonight’s game (upper body),” the official PR account of the Maple Leafs reported on social media.
Rielly had skated in 12:34 of ice time prior to his injury, and had a minus-2 rating.

Defenseman Morgan Rielly Is The Latest Injured Toronto Maple Leafs Player
The Maple Leafs, whose season is hanging dangerously in the balance after a horrid 0-4-1 home stand, can ill-afford to lose their top defenseman.
Rielly, who plays nearly 22 minutes per game, has tallied seven goals with 24 assists so far in the 53 games that he’s played this season.
Toronto is playing its first season without forward Mitch Marner, and the 102 total points he registered for them during what would be his final campaign in Toronto would certainly prove useful for them right about now.
