Skating a redeeming routine during her final Olympic performance, Amber Glenn knew she had delivered a personal best performance on the ice as she raised her arms in resounding victory.
Her coach, Damon Allen, also knew she had skating to personal perfection. Moments after her final skate, Glenn had an emotional reaction alongside her coach in the ‘kiss and cry’ area of the arena where competitors await their scores. The Plano native earned a score of 147.52 on her free skate performance, ultimately totaling her Olympic score to 214.91. For a brief moment, she was in first place and leading the competition before the second half of athletes in the women’s free skate competition took to the ice. Ultimately, fellow Team USA skater Alysa Liu won the gold medal in a shocking performance of athletic finesse that showed just how talented and resilient all of the ‘Blade Angel’s really are – both on and off the ice.
