Olympic Medal Count: Norway Continues to Dominant With the United States Closing Strong

It has been quite an impressive Winter Olympics for Norway who jumped out to a hot start and never cooled down. Heading into the final day, Norway leads the field with both 41 total medals and 18 golds.

The United States finished strong with 32 medals to sit in second, including 11 golds. Italy is expected to close out in third with 30 total medals. Team USA is hoping to make it 12 gold medals win a win over Canada in men’s hockey.

“Anytime you’re in this position, you’re not playing for yourself, you’re playing for your country,” United States forward Matthew Tkachuk explained on February 21, per NHL.com. “You’re playing for the guys that have come before you. You’re playing for the generation that will be coming after that.

“Might not be hockey players or wanting to play hockey right now, but you never know, we could do something, hopefully special tomorrow, and there’s a new crop of athletes that want to be hockey players. That’s how it works with teams that have won in the past.”
