Winter Olympics 2026: Figure Skating on TV on Friday, February 6

The first day of figure skating at the 2026 Winter Olympics has already wrapped up, but don’t worry, because you can still watch it on TV. The event kicked off at 3:55 a.m. ET, so that’s not the most convenient time for most people to watch TV. Because of the time difference, NBC is airing the figure skating later in the day.

So, when can you watch the Winter Olympics figure skating on Friday, February 6? At noon ET, NBC will air the “Team Event: Rhythm Dance,” followed by the Team Event: Pairs Short Program” at 12:30 p.m. and “Team Event: Women’s Short Program” at 1 p.m. This all leads up to the Opening Ceremony, which will air on NBC starting at 2 p.m.

Spoiler alert: After Friday’s competitions, the United States is sitting in first place in the team competition standings. During the competition, American and reigning world champion Alysa Liu skated the women’s short program and scored a 74.90 to secure nine points and bring the Americans’ point total to 25. Japan is in second place at 23 points following Kaori Sakamoto having a strong 78.80 score in the women’s short program to add 10 points to her team’s total. Italy is in third with 22 points.

Following her routine, Liu spoke about her routine, which she performed to Laufey’s “Promise.”

“I always do this with ‘Promise,'” she said to reporters. “This program does something to me. I guess it’s a super personal program, and I love being in the feels, so I was really trying to dive deep in it, especially while I was still out there on the ice.”

She added of her time on the ice, “You know, we’re not out there for very long, so I try to save her every moment.”


American Figure Skater Alysa Liu Started Skating at a Young Age

Liu started skating at age five, so she’s been on the ice ever since she can remember. Speaking in an interview with Elle, she said that she started skating “because my dad had heard of Michelle Kwan.”

At six years old, she was competing. She tells Elle that is was all for fun at first. “I don’t think I ever realized I stood out,” Liu tells the outlet. “It was the people around me who did.”

She adds, “I graduated high school at 15, because everyone wanted me to graduate a year before the Olympics, so for a year I could just focus on training.”
