WWE stars often use social media to progress or add depth to their ongoing storylines. Jade Cargil and Rhea Ripley began going back-and-forth on X. At the time, the belief was that their interactions were designed to build up their upcoming WrestleMania match.
However, at some point in the interaction, things took a turn. Cargil accused Ripley of spending “hours talking to creative.”
According to Fightful Select, that comment is when the interaction moved away from being a work and became something more personal.
“Fightful spoke to a number of sources who believed that the comments started as a playful work, and took a turn when Jade Cargill mentioned Rhea Ripley talking to creative for extended periods of time,” Fightful reported. “After that, we’re told things took a more serious turn.”
Fightful Select’s report continued.
“There were a number of WWE sources that were puzzled about bringing creative up as a point to further a feud. However, we’re told that WWE was generally happy about the buzz that emerged from it and the feeling that Ripley and Cargill have a legitimate dislike of one another, whether it be real or not.”
Despite the interaction, “There is no concern from WWE sources that the two will work together,” Fightful’s report noted. And, “There doesn’t appear to be real heat on anyone for their tweets.”
Does Cargil Have Heat In The WWE Locker Room?
Fightful Select’s report came just hours after PWInsider released its own report. PWInsider stated that Cargil has generated some negative buzz within the WWE locker room.
“One source noted that Cargill has been criticized by a number of talents for how she rubs others the wrong way…When the back and forth with Rhea began, it wasn’t hard for others to want to jump in and voice their opinions,” PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported. “Another source tried to downplay the situation. But later admitted that they expect management would step in and speak to Cargill about her relationship with the locker room.”
The report continued by stating that some within the women’s locker room don’t believe Cargil is reciprocating the respect she’s been shown since joining the roster, where she’s received a sizeable push.
“The source noted that everyone in the locker room has been happy to do whatever they need to do to get Cargill over. But, the respect they show her does not often feel requited. They described it as Cargill coming off “insecure” when she shouldn’t have any reason to feel that way.”
Rhea Ripley Won WWE Elimination Chamber
After winning the women’s Elimination Chamber, Ripley has set up a showdown with Cargil at WrestleMania. Ripley is a two-time Women’s World Champion. She is also a fan-favorite. She will likely enter the match as the favorite to secure the title.
The recent back-and-forth online will certainly generate more buzz for the upcoming match. So, it doesn’t matter whether their interactions were a work, shoot or something in between. The Women’s championship match is generating buzz, and that’s a good thing for the WWE and wrestling fans everywhere.
