Stone Cold will enter Fortnite as a playable character days before WrestleMania 42

Beer-chugging, butt-kicking former WWE World Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin is coming to one of the world’s most popular video games this week.

On Monday, it was announced that Austin’s character in Fortnite will officially debut on Thursday:

Stone Cold will be the latest WWE star to appear in Fortnite, continuing a crossover partnership between the wrestling promotion and video game franchise. Previously, John Cena, Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair and The Undertaker received Fortnite skins.

Austin’s biggest in-ring rival,  The Rock, is already in Fortnite as The Foundation. His character is a central character in the game’s main storyline, and returns as part of this season’s battle pass.

Steve Austin’s model will be available on April 16 and will feature a smoking skull back bling, his signature vest, and jean shorts.

Stone Cold will make his debut as part of Fortnite x WWE Wave 3, and along with him, fans will also get the chance to play as Liv Morgan when the models drop on April 16.

The news was met with excitement from fans eager to compete virtually using the Texas Rattlesnake.

Following the announcement, WWE fanatics flooded the comments with wrestling and Fortnite memes.

Others couldn’t help but point out the irony of releasing Stone Cold after March 16, which has become an unofficial Steve Austin-inspired holiday among WWE fans.

“Errr… 4.16? They’re about a month late,” someone commented.

“Stone Cold Day was literally a month ago. Whoever dropped the ball ought to catch a stunner,” another added.

Regardless of release date, expect Stone Cold to raise hell in the world of Fortnite.

During his prime in WWE, Stone Cold was a ruthless, slick-talking powerhouse and main eventer. His no-holds-barred approach and unfiltered promos helped establish him as a defining voice of the heralded Attitude Era.

For Austin, his Fortnite entry in April will be his second video game appearance of the year, as he is also featured in WWE 2k26.

Though his run as a full-time performer in WWE was relatively brief, Steve Austin’s impact cannot be understated.

For seven years, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin dolled out beatdowns (and middle-finger taunts) to practically everyone in the main event scene, becoming a massive fan favorite along the way.

His storied rivalry with The Rock still stands as one of the best in WWE history. Additionally, his storied matches with Bret Hart, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker are among WWE’s best.

While some fans are still clamoring for an in-ring return for the Texas Rattlesnake, the WWE legend doesn’t plan to lace his boots again.

During his recent appearance on Busted Open RadioStone Cold Steve Austin confirmed that he’s done as an in-ring performer. While he believes still has something left in the tank, an in-ring appearance is not something he’s actively exploring.

“I wish when I had that match with Kevin Owens a couple of years ago, that they would have sent me down the ring. So I could have got some timing and some wind and a lot of things. So I could have had a better match with Kevin Owens,” Steve Austin said. But yeah, I’m done.

“I could go out and do something. I’m not lobbying to do that. But I guess it’s cool that people would still, and there’s a lot of people that don’t, so the fact that people are still like, ‘Hey man, it would be cool to see him do something.’ I guess it’s an honor,” Steve Austin said.
