WWE fans chanted in favor of Kairi Sane at the Backlash PLE during a match between Asuka and Io Sky. Sane was previously involved a storyline with both women as three popular female wrestlers all coming from Japan. However, WWE pulled the rug from under Sane to fire her a few weeks ago during the recent waves of firings.
Fans reacted by chanting “We Want Kairi” loudly during Asuka vs Sky to make sure that it was heard on television. WWE fans started posting about the chant on social media to make “we want Kairi” become one of the most popular trends related to tonight’s Backlash premium live event. Sane has received the most support among the recent firings, which include names like Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, and the Motor City Machine Guns.
WWE viewers have tried to make their voices heard on social media by rallying behind Sane in hopes of getting her rehired. However, the live show chants made much more of an impact since everyone watching the actual WWE show heard it loudly. Sane’s popularity was not realized by WWE when cutting her, but the audience is making it clear that she’s missed.
Could WWE Bring Back Kairi Sane?
Recent history shows that WWE is willing to bring back released talents if the crowd keeps chanting for them. R-Truth had his contract expire due to WWE not wanting to pay him his usual contract figure, and it led to him posting on social media that he was gone from the company.
Triple H and TKO eventually brought back R-Truth due to the fans and locker room supporting him so deeply. One thing working in R-Truth’s favor was that he was among the longest-tenured WWE superstars on the roster for well over 15 years now.
Sane could suffer the same fate due to the audience wanting her back and a storyline with Asuka and Sky that never finished. Fans must keep chanting for Sane more than just tonight to influence management into making a change. Sane has been released in the past and returned for another tenure, so this wouldn’t be too far-fetched to see her back at some point.
Why WWE Miss Kairi Sane Most
Sane is a talented performer who used to be known solely for her in-ring greatness, but she became part of an appreciated storyline. Asuka, Sky, and Sane are among the most talented female performers in WWE to make their angle quite promising.
Unfortunately, WWE felt that Sane didn’t have the overall ceiling that Asuka and Sky did to remove her from the storyline and the roster altogether. Fans felt offended and unhappy that such a great performer got released at a time when she was still contributing to the weekly product.
Triple H will likely have to vouch for Sane to create any chance of a return coming this year. TKO management will have to approve the decision, but fans are making their impact by chanting for Sane. The story is worth paying attention to, especially if tonight’s chants inspire future crowds to keep chanting for Kairi.
