This week’s episode of WWE Raw will be held at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. The Road to WrestleMania 42 continues to heat up, with three matches announced for tonight’s show.
The show streams exclusively on Netflix in the United States and more than 30 international markets. It has a start time of 8 p.m. EST.
Raw general manager Adam Pearce announced on Sunday that there will be three official matches tonight, including one title match.
Penta vs. Original El Grande Americano for the Intercontinental Championship
Last week on Raw, Penta became the new Intercontinental Champion after beating Dominik Mysterio. He overcame Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, who were both at ringside during the match.
It also helped that Danhausen put a “curse” on “Dirty” Dom before the match. Penta became the first Mexican-born Intercontinental Champion. And just a week after winning his first singles title, he’ll defend it against the Original El Grande Americano.
The Original El Grande, who is assumed to be Chad Gable, earned a win over Rayo Americano last week. The feud between the two El Grande Americanos is heating up, so it will be interesting to see if the current El Grande Americano, who is obviously Ludwig Kaiser, gets involved.
Women’s Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender’s Gauntlet Match
AJ Lee celebrated her Women’s Intercontinental Championship win over Becky Lynch at Elimination Chamber: Chicago last week on Raw. Lee is ready to defend her title, so she issued a challenge to anyone in the back to step up.
Plenty of women met with Pearce, who promptly announced a Gauntlet Match to determine the No. 1 contender for the Women’s Intercontinental Title. The match will feature IYO SKY, Asuka, Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, Raquel Rodriguez and Ivy Nile.
One WWE star who is unhappy with everything that has been happening is Lynch. The Man has been ranting and threatening Lee, Pearce and referee Jessika Carr for an alleged conspiracy against her.
Oba Femi vs. Rusev
After a couple of tense moments backstage, Oba Femi and Rusev finally clashed inside the ring last week on Raw. The Ruler got the best of The Bulgarian Brute in their brawl, which led to their official match on this week’s episode of the red-branded show.
Oba Femi has been on a tear since he left NXT to conquer the main roster. He had an impressive showing in the Royal Rumble, including eliminating Rusev early in the match. He also has wins over Kit Wilson, The Miz and Johnny Gargano.
Rusev, on the other hand, gets his first high-profile feud of the year. He returned to WWE last year and had matches against Sheamus, Penta, Alpha Academy, Dominik Mysterio, Jey Uso and Damian Priest.
It will be Oba Femi’s first real test on the main roster amid rumors of his potential WrestleMania 42 match against Brock Lesnar.
