Popular streaming website Streameast has not shot down despite reports.

On Wednesday morning, sports fans were hit with what was, to some, devastating news. The wildly popular and highly illegal sports streaming site known as Streameast was no more.

Except… that isn’t the case, and Streameast is still very much up and running.

While the New York Times, reported that “the world’s largest illegal sports streaming platform” was shut down after a year-long investigation, Streameast appears to be alive and well.

While we can’t include URLs here, at the time of publication, Streameast still has a total of 16 live URLs broadcasting sports. Currently, the site is live-streaming the Detroit Tigers vs. New York Mets game, as well as the Washington Nationals vs. Miami Marlins game, with over a dozen more games scheduled to stream live throughout the remainder of the day.

According to the New York Times, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), described on its website as the “world’s leading content protection coalition dedicated to combating the illegal acts of digital piracy,” is aware of the situation and is investigating whether the Streameast sites still up and running are quote, “related.”

ACE Calls Streameast Investigation ‘A Resounding Victory’

Prior to the law enforcement operation on Sunday, Aug. 24, in Egypt, which led to the arrest of two men, Streameast was reportedly averaging 136 million monthly visitors.

In the New York Times’ report from Wednesday, Charles Rivkin, the chairman of ACE, reacted to the news with a written statement.

“ACE scored a resounding victory in its fight to detect, deter, and dismantle criminal perpetrators of digital piracy: by taking down the largest illegal live sports platform anywhere.

“With this landmark action, we have put more points on the board for sports leagues, entertainment companies, and fans worldwide — and our global alliance will stay on the field as long as it takes to identify and target the biggest piracy rings across the globe.”

According to the New York Times, ACE worked in collaboration with law enforcement officials around the world throughout the investigation.

Larissa Knapp, the executive VP and Chief Content Protection Officer of the Motion Picture Association was quoted by the outlet as saying:

“This action swiftly dismantled what was once the largest illegal sports streaming operation in the world, and I applaud the Egyptian authorities for their partnership. It’s further proof that no piracy network is beyond the reach of coordinated global enforcement.”

Sports Fans React to the Loss of Streameast

While plenty of Streameast URLs are still active, many fans have been cut off from live sports ahead of the start of the 2025-26 NFL season this week.

In response to the news, plenty of fans were quick to weigh in:

Shutting down StreamEast the day before the NFL season starts is diabolical.” – One wrote.

“When will companies realize that ppl dont wanna pay for 10 different streaming sites.” – Another complained.

“If only these multi-billion dollar sports leagues put as much effort into eliminating their idiotic blackout restrictions. You can actually order MLB “every game” and not see a single game of your favorite team because it’s “blacked out.” It’s beyond dumb.” – One fan pointed out.

Other fans, however, were unfazed:

“We have many different sites were cool this won’t do this,” – One wrote.

“Literally still up and running.” – Another added.

“Website gonna be back up by the end of this week I aint worried,” – One fan joked.
