Kampmann, Saunders Set for UFC 111

A welterweight bout between Ben Saunders and Martin Kampmann has been confirmed for UFC 111.

MMA Weekly issued the original report, and Heavy.com has confirmed verbal agreements with sources close to the bout. Bout agreements are expected to be distributed and signed shortly.

Saunders last appeared in the Octagon in November, destroying the durable Marcus Davis with knee strikes at UFC 106. Davis had never been stopped during his UFC career prior to the loss.

Kampmann was considered a top contender for George St. Pierre’s welterweight championship last summer, but that changed when he ran into devastating British striker Paul Daley in September. Daley emphatically dashed Kampmann’s title hopes with a vcious upset knockout. Kampmann rebounded from the loss with a strong victory over Jacob “Christmas” Volkmann at UFC 108 last month.
