The UFC is putting all the chips on the table for its March debut on the Versus network in the hopes of pressuring DirecTV into adding the channel back to their lineup.
A card already considered one of the most stacked free cards in company history became even stronger on Monday when the UFC announced via Twitter a heavyweight bout between Paul Buentello and Cheick Kongo. The card is headlined by Jon Jones taking Brandon Vera, and also features a co-main event between heavyweight contender Junior dos Santos and Gabriel Gonzaga.
Kong has lost in his past two outings. He’ll face Buentello, who lost an exciting bout to Stefan Struve in his return to the UFC in December.
The promotion also confirmed a rumored lightweight bout between Spencer Fisher and Duane Ludwig.
“UFC on Versus 1” takes place March 21 at the Odeum in Broomfield, Colorado.
