UFC 110 Conference Call Quick Recap

UFC 110 is less than two weeks away, and it marks the UFC’s first foray into the Australian market. Headliners Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Cain Velasquez, Michael Bisping and Wanderlei Silva participated in a media conference call today to discuss their upcoming bouts, and we’ve got a quick recap of the proceedings for you.

— Cain says that Jon Fitch’s comments about the submission game being overrated weren’t correct. He’s very aware of Nogueira’s ground game and of how dangerous he is off his back. Nogueira says that you have to have all three facets of mixed martial arts in your game to be successful.

— Bisping says that Chael Sonnen has done enough to earn the number one contenders spot in the middleweight division. Bisping doesn’t always agree with what Sonnen says, but he beat the number one contender and guesses that it’s enough to make Sonnen the number one contender. Bisping does believe that a win over Wanderlei Silva gets him in the mix for a title shot, however.

— Marshall Zelaznik says that UFC 110 was the second-fastest sellout in company history at half a day, despite the aggressive pricing structure.

— Bisping says the time change won’t be a problem, because he’s already altered his schedule to get his body used to the time difference. Cain says he’s already been to Australia and it won’t be a problem.

— Nogueira says that Velasquez is a threat on the ground and on his feet. He also indicates that it’s going to be a very high-pace fight, saying that fans will be surprised at how quickly they’re able to move.

— Bisping says he still believes he can beat Dan Henderson and that he simply had an off night.
