Meet the James Madison Dukes

James Madison University is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. According to James Madison, there are 19,144 undergraduate students that attend the university.

JMU has one of the most unique mascots of any school. The Dukes logo features a bulldog with a crown on its head. How did the school come up with the idea? According to SB Nation, the name came from their first school president Samuel Duke. The university did not know exactly how to represent that as a mascot, but decided that a duke might own a bulldog as a pet.

The school has had success in football. In recent years they have upset FBS schools like Virginia Tech. Everett Withers is the head coach for the Dukes. Withers has was an interim coach for North Carolina and was a defensive coordinator at Ohio State under Urban Meyer.

James Madison also has a dynamic playmaker at quarterback in Vad Lee. According to Yahoo Sports, Lee was a three-star recruit who received offers from schools like South Carolina, North Carolina and NC State.
