Lionel Messi is active for today’s Clasico against Real Madrid. He is on the bench for Luis Enrique’s side, and is listed as a substituted for the match.

Earlier this week, Barcelona manager Luis Enrique had been coy regarding Messi’s playing status, while the media has provided constant updates. Cameras tracked Messi’s every move in practice , as the Argentinian returned from a ligament injury and was sprinting, cutting, and even scored a goal in a training match.

Enrique confirmed Messi’s status but wouldn’t reveal any details about his lineup.

“We know he’s not going to be 100% fit,” he said. “He’s coming back from injury and it will depend how he feels, but it’s great for us that he’s back.”

In Messi’s absence, Barcelona has seen increased performance from its other attackers. Neymar and Luis Suarez have combined for Barcelona’s last 17 goals in La Liga. As much as even a partially-healthy Messi could bring to the game, it’s hard to argue against leaving the pair up front and allowing Messi a full recovery.

El Clasico kicks off at 12:15 p.m. Eastern and will air on beIN Sports in the US. To watch the game online, click here.
