Four-time All-Star and 2014 AL MVP Mike Trout proposed in a big way on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Angels player proposed to his girlfriend, Jessica Cox on Saturday, and she said “yes.”

Here are five fast facts to know about Cox:


1. Trout Proposed With a Message in the Sky

We knew the outfielder was impressive on the baseball field, but he has moves off the field as well. Trout’s proposal game is on point. He showed he’s a true romantic at heart by hiring a sky writer to pop the question.

Cox posted a photo and message on Twitter saying:

“After a few unforgettable days at home & in Boston with out families, I’m so excited to finally be able to officially call this amazing man my fiance.”


2. She Is a Middle School Teacher

Cox graduated in 2008 from Millville Senior High School in Millville, Jersey. She studied elementary and special education at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania from where she graduated in 2012.

Cox is currently a sixth grade teacher at Dennis Township School Board in New Jersey.


3. Trout & Cox Dated in High School

Trout dated Cox while in high school, and she has remained supportive of him throughout his baseball career.

Trout said Cox is one of his best friends.

“I met her in high school, and we trust each other, and she is one of my best friends,” he said in a previous interview. “She is somebody I can talk to and is always here for me.”


4. Cox Is Active in Charitable Events

Cox regularly participates in Angels Wives charity events, most recently participating in the “Fill the Boot” event which raised money for local fire departments in Los Angeles.

Another well-known charity event the Angels Wives coordinate is the “Golden Ball” in partnership with the Special Olympics.


5. Her Fiance Has a $144 Million Contract

Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels agreed in March 2014 to a $144.5 million, six-year contract.

The outfielder entered Saturday batting .325/.424./.576 this season. Trout went 18 for 30 with three homers during the Angels’ last six-game homestand.
