Latest Warriors News
Moses Moody : Plays well off bench
Moody contributed 16 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds and one assist over 15 minutes during Tuesday's 118-94 Play-In Game loss to Sacramento. Moody was arguably the best player on the court for Golden State on a night that saw their season come to an end. After an unconvincing start to the season, Moody was able to carve out a meaningful role down the stretch, perhaps an indication that he could be in for an uptick in playing time next year. Whatever direction the coaching staff chooses, it is clear they need to lean into their youth with their veteran core now well beyond their best.
Trayce Jackson-Davis : Rough night despite start
Jackson-Davis amassed two points (1-1 FG) and one rebound in 11 minutes during Tuesday's 118-94 Play-In Game loss to Sacramento. Jackson-Davis got the starting nod Tuesday but was limited to just 11 minutes in the loss. He was simply outclassed here, resulting in the Warriors leaning more into their veterans in an attempt to get the victory. While it has been a disappointing season for Golden State, Jackson-Davis has been a positive, carving out a consistent role on a team in need of a youth movement.
Klay Thompson : Ice cold in loss
Thompson produced zero points (0-10 FG, 0-6 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist over 32 minutes during Tuesday's 118-94 Play-In Game loss to the Kings. Thompson turned in arguably his worst performance of the season as the Warriors' disappointing season came to an end at the hands of the Kings. Despite a few bright spots throughout the year, it appears Thompson's days of being a reliable offensive threat could be behind him. His future remains a little clouded but no matter where he is next season, it is unlikely he will have much fantasy value outside of points and threes.
Chris Paul : Heads back to bench
Paul isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Kings, John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game San Francisco reports. Stephen Curry will replace Paul in the starting five Tuesday after missing Golden State's previous contest with an ankle injury. Paul is averaging 8.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 23.3 minutes across his last 10 appearances coming off the bench.
Jonathan Kuminga : Goes to bench
Kuminga will come off the bench for Tuesday's game against the Kings, John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game San Francisco reports. Draymond Green is good to go after missing the season finale, so this is an expected move for Kuminga. Despite this move to the second unit, Kuminga figures to see a healthy amount of minutes going forward.
Draymond Green : Cleared for Play-In Tournament
Green (knee) will play Tuesday versus Sacramento. Green and Stephen Curry (ankle) have both been removed from Monday's injury report, while Gary Payton (calf) is officially inactive. Malik Monk (knee) and Kevin Huerter (shoulder) represent notable absences for Sacramento, although there should still be no shortage of drama, as three of Golden State's four regular-season meetings versus the Kings this year were decided by exactly one point.
Stephen Curry : Removed from injury report
Curry (ankle) does not carry an injury designation into Tuesday's Play-In Tournament game against Sacramento. Curry and Draymond Green (knee) have both been cleared for action Tuesday, leaving Gary Payton (calf) as the Warriors' lone absence. Golden State will be traveling to Sacramento for Tuesday's showdown, returning to the scene of the crime where Curry dropped 50 points (20-38 FG, 7-18 3Pt) in a victorious Game 7 of last year's first-round series between these teams. Additionally, Curry averaged 31.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists in four games against the Kings this season.
Stephen Curry : Expected to play Tuesday
Coach Steve Kerr said Monday that Curry (ankle) is expected to play in Tuesday's Play-In Tournament matchup against the Kings, Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Curry sat out Sunday's regular-season finale due to what was deemed a right ankle sprain, but it seemed as though his absence was mainly for rest purposes ahead of the postseason. The 36-year-old will presumably be back in action once the Play-In Tournament gets underway, and he's averaged 26.0 points, 7.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds in 33.3 minutes per game over his last three appearances.
