Jean-Charles was not tendered by New Orleans as a restricted free agent, but he will return to the team nonetheless. After spending his first two seasons in Green Bay, the 25-year-old suited up for eight games between the 49ers and Saints in 2023. He accumulated four tackles (three solo) in the process. The Appalachian State product will now look to make an impression during offseason workouts.

The Saints signed St. Brown on Friday. After spending his first three seasons with the Packers, St. Brown was with the Bears the last two years and has 63 career catches for 928 yards and two touchdowns on 110 targets. In 2023, St. Brown missed 10 games with hamstring and pectoral injuries. In New Orleans, St. Brown will slot in on the depth chart and compete for a job behind Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, Cedrick Wilson and A.T. Perry.
The Saints and Hudson agreed to terms Thursday on a one-year contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Hudson put together a career-best 2023 season with Washington, the final year of his rookie deal, when he notched 74 tackles (44 solo), two pass defenses and 1.0 sacks in 17 regular-season games. Eight of those contests were starts, and he contributed 341 snaps on special teams. He figures to handle a similar role with New Orleans.
Ramczyk (knee) may not be medically cleared to suit up for the 2024 campaign, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Coach Dennis Allen said Tuesday that Ramczyk's knee isn't responding as the Saints hoped, and that the team is unclear when the veteran right tackle will be cleared for action. The knee injury forced Ramczyk to miss the final four games of the 2023 season, and current backup Landon Young (knee) was a notable downgrade once plugged into the starting lineup. If Ramczyk's recovery does extend into the regular season, it will be a significant blow to New Orleans' offensive line.
Jordan is recovering from offseason surgery undergone to address an ankle injury that hampered him during the 2023 campaign, Matthew Paras of NOLA.com reports. Jordan suffered the ankle injury in mid-November, and while he didn't subsequently miss any games, his defensive snap share did notably diminish down the stretch. The 13-year veteran has missed only two regular-season games in his NFL career, so recovering from an ankle procedure doesn't add any true concerns about his durability. Jordan has stated that he desires to suit up for the 2024 season, and with better injury luck, he could be set for a bounceback after finishing out 2023 with just two sacks across 17 games.
Abram agreed to a contract with the Saints on Wednesday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports. In nine regular-season games with the Saints in 2023, the 2019 first-round draft pick recorded 26 tackles and one interception. By bringing back the 27-year-old, New Orleans' secondary maintains some needed depth following the offseason departures of Marcus Maye, Isaac Yiadom and Lonnie Johnson.
Saints head coach Dennis Allen said in February that Sewell (knee) isn't expected to be ready for training camp, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Given that Sewell tore his ACL in Week 17 last season, it's not surprising that the linebacker will be eased back from surgery. Once healthy, the 25-year-old -- who recorded 15 tackles in 16 regular-season outings in 2023 -- is in line to reprise his depth/special-teams role with New Orleans.
Young's one-year contract with the Saints gives New Orleans protection in the event he struggles to recover from his upcoming neck surgery or otherwise misses time, with 61 percent of the money in the deal coming from per-game roster bonuses, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Young has a $5.01 million base salary and can earn an additional $7.99 million in per-game roster bonuses, with the former guaranteed at signing and the latter only guaranteed if he's released. In other words, he'll miss out on around $470,000 for each game he's on the roster but inactive. Albert Breer of SI.com reports that scans on Young's neck led to reduced interest in free agency, due to a condition that was first discovered last summer after he suffered a stinger in the preseason. He ended up playing seven games for the Commanders, and then 12 post-trade for the 49ers (including playoffs), recording 7.5 sacks in the regular season and an additional sack during the postseason. Young was the No. 2 overall pick and Defensive Rookie of the Year back in 2020, but he suffered a severe knee injury the following season and managed only 1.5 sacks in 12 appearances between 2021 and 2022. He's scheduled for surgery Thursday and expected to be healthy for training camp, at which point the Saints likely will use him off the bench behind starting defensive ends Cameron Jordan and Carl Granderson.
