Latest 76ers News
Justin Edwards : Two-way showing in double-double
Edwards accumulated 19 points (9-15 FG, 1-4 3Pt), 10 rebounds, one assist and five steals in 36 minutes during Wednesday's 119-114 loss to the Wizards. Edwards played well on both ends in Wednesday's contest, leading all players in rebounds and steals while finishing one point shy of the 20-point mark in a double-double performance. Edwards set new season-high totals in rebounds and steals while posting his sixth outing of the year with 19 or more points.
Jared Butler : Sparks offense in return to bench
Butler supplied 14 points (5-10 FG, 4-7 3Pt), five rebounds and four assists in 26 minutes during Wednesday's 119-114 loss to the Wizards. Butler returned to the 76ers bench Wednesday with Jeff Dowtin getting the starting nod, still providing Philadelphia with a spark on the second unit while leading all bench players in scoring, threes made and assists. Butler set a new season high in threes made while recording his 15th outing of the year with a double-digit scoring total.
Quentin Grimes : Leads in scoring in return
Grimes amassed 22 points (6-16 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, four assists and two steals across 33 minutes during Wednesday's 119-114 loss to the Wizards. Grimes returned Wednesday after resting in the previous contest, leading all 76ers in scoring and threes made, to go along with a pair of steals on the defensive end. Grimes has connected on four or more threes in 12 outings, including in two of his last four contests. He has now surpassed the 20-point mark in nine straight appearances.
Jeff Dowtin : Starting Wednesday
Dowtin is in the 76ers' starting lineup against the Wizards on Wednesday, Austin Krell of OnPattison.com reports. Dowtin will make his second start in three games Wednesday, while Jared Butler comes off the bench. Dowtin has averaged 14.5 points, 2.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals over 24.0 minutes per game over his last two outings.
Jared Butler : Back to bench Wednesday
Butler is not in the 76ers' starting lineup against the Wizards on Wednesday, Austin Krell of OnPattison.com reports. Butler will serve in a reserve role Wednesday while Jeff Dowtin gets the start at point guard. Butler has started in eight of the 76ers' last nine games, and over that span he averaged 11.7 points, 5.0 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals over 29.2 minutes per contest.
Kelly Oubre : Making progress through injury
Head coach Nick Nurse told reporters Wednesday that Oubre (knee) has been working out and could be back soon, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. Oubre has been out of the 76ers' lineup since March 14 due to a right knee sprain, but Nurse's comments indicate that the 2015 first-round pick is inching closer to a return. Oubre had averaged 17.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals over 36.6 minutes per game since the beginning of February and before his injury. His return would lead to less playing time for Justin Edwards and Ricky Council, though Oubre would likely operate on a minutes restriction in his first few games back. Oubre has already been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards, so his next opportunity to take to the floor is Saturday against the Heat.
Kyle Lowry : Could return soon
76ers head coach Nick Nurse gave an update on Lowry's status Wednesday, saying the veteran guard could return soon, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. Lowry has missed 20 straight games for Philadelphia while nursing a hip injury, but he could be back on the floor sooner rather than later. The veteran guard will miss Wednesday's game against the Wizards, and his next opportunity to return will be Saturday against the Heat.
Andre Drummond : No timetable for return
Head coach Nick Nurse indicated Wednesday that Drummond (toe) does not have a timetable on a return, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. Drummond has been out of action since March 12 due to a left toe sprain that has bothered him since late December. With no clear indication on a return and Joel Embiid (knee) out for the season, Guerschon Yabusele will continue to start at center while Adem Bona serves as his backup.
