Bart will start at catcher and bat seventh in Thursday's game against the Nationals. It's the fifth start across the last eight contests for Bart, who could be emerging the 1A to Henry Davis' 1B at catcher for the Pirates. Bart is hitting only .136/.231/.273 this season but did hit his first home run of the season in his last start Tuesday.

Joseph Bart: Breaking News
Drawing another start
Bart will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Cubs. Bart will pick up his third start behind the plate in four games, but he'll likely need to raise his production at the plate before overtaking Henry Davis as the Bucs' No. 1 catcher. While Davis has disappointed early on with a .194/.286/.290 slash line over 35 plate appearances, Bart (.368 OPS across 17 plate appearances) has yet to capitalize on his more limited opportunities.
Slumping in spring
Bart has gone 5-for-31 with 13 strikeouts across 12 Grapefruit League games. Bart is likely the favorite to win a roster spot as Pittsburgh's second catcher alongside Henry Davis, and his path became clearer earlier in the week when Endy Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis. Rafael Flores also remains in the mix, though he has hit poorly this spring.
