Anderson Silva predicts violent UFC 148 victory

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is heated.

The Brazilian superstar surprised everyone on a media call on Monday with his personal predictions for his UFC 148 main event rematch against rival Chael Sonnen. All while Sonnen listened on the line.

“First of all, Chael is a criminal,” Silva said. “He’s been convicted of crimes. He doesn’t deserve to be in the Octagon… When the time is right, I’m going to break his face and every one of the teeth in his mouth.

“I know he’s on the line listening, and the game’s over. I’m going to beat his (expletive) out of the UFC.”

Sonnen fired back shortly after, making a prediction of his own.

“I think Anderson’s a really good set-up guy, but, at the end of the day, his skills are amateur,” Sonnen said. “I treated him like an amateur the first time, he’s going to look like an amateur this time.”

After the comment, little else was heard from Sonnen, aside from a two word message of “medium rare” to Silva. No, after his brief remarks, he was nowhere to be found on a stage he usually owns so well.

Instead, Silva continued building hype with more comments to Sonnen.

“Chael Sonnen’s getting his ass kicked like he’s never gotten his ass kicked before. He’s disrespectful, he’s a criminal. I’m not playing anymore… There’s going to be no difference (between the first fight and this one). He’s going to step out losing again this time. He’s going to have to see a plastic surgeon after the fight.”

Silva went on to say he was going to break Sonnen’s teeth, arms, legs…even proclaiming that he would “change the image of the sport” with what he was going to do to him.

“I’m going to beat him the way his parents should have beat him to teach him some manners,” Silva continued.

After several more comments with the same sentiment, Silva got disconnected from the call, but there was no need to get the champion back on the line. He made himself perfectly clear, revealing far more anger than he’s shown before at any point in his career.

“I’ve never heard Anderson Silva talk like this,” said an entertained Dana White.

None of us have.

A normally composed, quiet Silva has avoided building hype trough trash talk during his incredible UFC career, letting his performances do the talking.

After years of harsh comments, Chael Sonnen has created an angry, emotional Silva, unlike any version we’ve seen before. Sonnen has brought out the best in the very motivated champion outside of the cage and, at UFC 148, Silva no doubt plans to put on his most violent, dominant performance to date.
