Franklin, Werdum earn UFC 147 wins
Rich Franklin defeated Wanderlei Silva last Saturday with a unanimous decision in the 190 lb. catchweight main event at UFC 147 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
The two battled for all five of the scheduled rounds, but Franklin continuously managed to get the better of his Brazilian opponent. Silva managed to deal some damage in the second frame, but Franklin proved too tough to put away, cruising through the rest of the contest to three scorecards of 49-46, giving him the victory.
Also on the main card, “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” winners were determined, as middleweight Cezar Ferreira defeated Sergio Moraes and featherweight Rony Bezerra defeated Godofredo de Oliveira. Both results were unanimous decisions. In a heavyweight contest, Fabricio Werdum impressed his home-country crowd with a technical knockout win over Mike Russow.
The event drew 16,643 in attendance, and Franklin vs. Silva II earned Fight of the Night.
