UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones to appear on “The Tonight Show”

The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s newest title holder, Jon Jones, will appear this Thursday on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

UFC president Dana White announced the news to the 1.35 million followers he has on Twitter earlier today.

“Congrats, Jon Jones,” White’s message read. “First UFC fighter to do ‘The Tonight Show’ with Jay Leno. The hits keep on coming!”

Jones’ booking on the popular show comes off the heels of his dominant victory over former champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128 this past weekend at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The 23-year-old earned a third round technical knockout stoppage, breaking down the PRIDE legend to become the youngest champion in the history of the UFC.

Further adding appeal to his appearance, the man nicknamed “Bones” had an interesting experience just hours prior to Saturday night’s event. He and two of his trainers, including mixed martial arts coaching great Greg Jackson, ran down a robber to retrieve a woman’s stolen GPS. They were successful after Jones brought the man down, and the three pressed the criminal to the pavement until authorities arrived on the scene.

Tune into “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” this Thursday to hear from the the newest light heavyweight champion.
