Stout vs. Edwards likely for June

A lightweight tilt between Yves Edwards and Sam Stout is currently in the works for UFC 131.

MMAjunkie.com first reported the match up after learning of the news from sources close to the event.

Stout last competed at UFC 121 in October of last year, earning a split-decision nod over Paul Taylor. Prior to that fight, he was upset by Jeremy Stephens at UFC 113 in the evening’s “Fight of the Night.” That marked the fifth time Stout has taken home that particular bonus and it was his third fight in a row earning that honor.

Since returning to the UFC, Edwards has shown great promise, earning a pair of victories. At “UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares,” he dominated John Gunderson en route to a unanimous decision victory, while, four months later, he submitted Cody McKenzie with a rear naked choke at “UFC: Fight for the Troops 2.”

The lightweight tilt is likely for UFC 131, which is set for the Rogers Center in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on June 11. The event features a heavyweight tilt between former champion Brock Lesnar and knockout machine Junior dos Santos. The pair are coaching opposite one another on the latest season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
