Joe “Daddy” Stevenson drops to featherweight.
UFC officials announced today that Joe Stevenson and WEC veteran Javier Vazquez will meet at UFC on Versus 4 in a featherweight bout.
The bout will be Stevenson’s first at featherweight and Vazquez’ UFC debut.
“These two submission experts will go at it,” said UFC president Dana White.
Stevenson has lost three fights in a row and looks to revitalize his career in the 145-pound division. He last competed at “UFC on Versus 3,” dropping a unanimous decision to Danny Castillo. He now finds himself in a must-win fight if he wants to keep his job with the UFC.
Meanwhile Vazquez is coming off a decision loss of his own, losing to undefeated Chad Mendes in November. He went 2-3 while competing under the WEC banner.
UFC on Versus 4 is expected to take place on June 26, likely at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
