Rothwell vs. Hunt, Browne vs. Broughton Added To UFC 135

Rothwell vs. Hunt, Browne vs. Broughton Official For September

Heavyweight Ben Rothwell is returning to action at UFC 135 against Mark Hunt, while Travis Browne and Rob Broughton will also do battle on the evening’s main card.

UFC officials announced the contest earlier today.

Rothwell, a former IFC heavyweight champion, debuted in the UFC with a technical knockout loss at the hands of now-champion Cain Velasquez. In his second contest, he outraged president Dana White with an unimpressive victory over Gilbert Yvel.

His upcoming opponent, Hunt, also debuted in the UFC fairly recently, losing to Sean McCorkle via submission at UFC 119 last September. Following the loss, the longtime veteran of the sport blasted through Chris Tuchscherer at UFC 127, winning Knockout of the Night honors.

In the other contest, Browne looks to continue to build upon his hype following a vicious knockout victory over Stefan Struve at UFC 130. In his fight prior to the win, Browne fought Cheick Kongo to a draw, marking the lone time in his career that he did not earn a victory, though he remains undefeated.

Meanwhile, Broughton enters this contest not undefeated as a mixed martial artist, but he is unbeaten as a UFC fighter. He debuted at UFC 120 with a third round submission stoppage over Vinicius Queiroz.

UFC 135 is set for September 24 in Denver, Colorado and features a light heavyweight title fight between champion Jon Jones and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
