Maia vs. Santiago Likely For UFC 136 in October

Demian Maia

Maia, Santiago meet at UFC 136

UFC middleweights Demian Maia and Jorge Santiago are expected to meet at UFC 136 this October.

HeavyMMA.com confirmed news of the match up earlier today.

Maia last fought at UFC 131 against Mark Munoz, losing to the stellar wrestler via unanimous decision. The loss snapped a two-fight winning streak, which included wins over Kendall Grove and Mario Miranda. Prior to the past three contests, he was defeated by champion Anderson Silva at UFC 112.

The Brazilian’s upcoming opponent also enters this contest looking to bounce back. Santiago returned to the UFC this past May at UFC 130, but was welcomed back with a technical knockout loss at the hands of Brian Stann. He, like Maia, is 2-2 in his last four contests.

UFC 136 is set for October 8 in Houston, Texas and has been quickly coming together over the past couple of days. As of right now, the most prominent bout to be rumored is a middleweight match up between Chael Sonnen and the aforementioned Stann.
