Top light heavyweights square off on network television
A light heavyweight matchup originally scheduled for UFC 133 in August has been re-booked for the headlining spot of UFC on Fox 2.
Top UFC contender Rashad Evans will take on Phil Davis in the main event of the Jan. 28 card. It takes place at the United Center in Chicago. ESPN.com initially issued the report.
Evans defeated Tito Ortiz at UFC 133 after Davis was forced to pull out with an injury. He was originally scheduled to face Jon Jones at at UFC 140 in a long-anticipated grudge match, but withdrew from the bout after a lingering hand injury wouldn’t be ready in time for him to have a proper training camp.
Davis has not competed since March, when he defeated Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
