Ken Stone Out of UFC on FX Card in Nashville

Mike Easton

Promotion seeks opponent for Mike Easton

Not long after announcing Ken Stone vs. Mike Easton for the main card of UFC on FX in Nashville this month, the UFC has to go back to work.

Stone has been injured and is out of the fight, which had been slated for the four-fight main card on the FX broadcast. The UFC recently announced the injury and said a new opponent was being sought for Easton.

The UFC had announced the fight booking Monday, as well as its spot on the main card. UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller takes place Jan. 20 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., and features a main event lightweight contenders fight between Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller.

Easton (11-1, 1-0 UFC) won his UFC debut in October with a second-round TKO of Bryon Bloodworth at the final UFC on Versus event. Easton started his MMA career with 10 wins in his first 11 fights, primarily on the East coast. The former Ultimate Warrior Challenge bantamweight titleholder holds notable wins over TUF 14 135-pound winner John Dodson and former WEC bantamweight champ Chase Beebe.

Stone (10-3, 1-1 UFC) snapped a two-fight skid in September when he choked out Donny Walker midway through the first round at UFC Fight Night 25 in New Orleans. The victory was his first in the UFC. Stone started his MMA career 9-1, including eight straight wins to open, before getting a call from the WEC to face former bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland. But he suffered back-to-back knockout losses to Wineland and Scott Jorgensen before rebounding against Walker.

In addition to the main event lightweight bout between Guillard and Miller, who recently had long winning streaks snapped, UFC on FX 1 features a heavyweight bout between Pat Barry and Christian Morecraft, plus a welterweight fight featuring Josh Neer and Duane Ludwig on the main card. The UFC last visited Nashville for UFC Fight Night 18 in April 2009. That card set a then-record for attendance for a Fight Night show.
