UFC Newcomers Sean Loeffler, Buddy Roberts Booked for Fuel TV Card in Omaha

Middleweights set for Feb. 15 bout

The UFC’s return to Omaha next month is closer to completion with the addition of a middleweight bout involving a pair of streaking newcomers.

Sean Loeffler and Buddy Roberts have agreed to meet at UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger on Feb. 15 in Omaha, Neb. UFC officials announced the bout late Monday for the preliminary card.

Loeffler (25-5), an 11-year MMA veteran, comes into the fight riding a six-bout winning streak – all by first-round stoppage. The California-based fighter has been outside of the first round only four times in his 30-fight career and has been involved in only two decisions. Loeffler’s last loss came to Bryan Baker at Bellator 16 in April 2010, his only fight with the promotion. That loss snapped another six-fight streak.

Roberts (11-2), a student at the Greg Jackson camp in Albuquerque, N.M., will make his UFC debut on a five-fight winning streak. He went 2-0 in 2011 with decision wins for the Florida-based Art of Fighting and Jackson’s promotion, Jackson’s MMA Series.

The UFC’s first full card on Fuel TV under the seven-year broadcast deal with Fox will also be its first trip to Omaha since UFC Fight Night 15 in September 2008, a card headlined by Nate Diaz vs. Josh Neer. The card, which will take place at the CenturyLink Center, will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Diego Sanchez and Omaha native and resident Jake Ellenberger. Also on the main card, Stefan Struve meets Dave “Pee Wee” Herman.
