Most of the superstars in the WWE have at least one tattoo, some of them being quite elaborate like Roman Reigns’ and others more subtle Charlotte’s. The current WWE Women’s Champion and daughter of Ric Flair has several interesting tattoos on her body, but what do they mean? What are they meant to signify?
Charlotte, whose real name is Ashley Flier, has a few tattoos, including one on her rib which reads, “Guard your heart above all else, for it will determine the course of your life.” As she explained on the WWE show Superstar Ink, she and her sister both received this exact same tattoo together while in college and while they were both getting divorced. This is a quote from The Bible, specifically Proverbs 4:23.
She also has a tattoo of a cross that says “Reider.” This is a tribute to her brother, Reid, who died in 2013. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be an accidental heroin overdose, according to TMZ. He was 25 years old at the time.
Charlotte explained that her brother always wanted a tattoo and was not allowed to get one, but he finally rebelled against his parents by getting a cross tattoo on his back. It ended up not coming out exactly as he wanted it to, though. When Reid died, Charlotte, Reid’s girlfriend, Charlotte’s brother, Charlotte’s brother’s wife, Charlotte’s sister and Charlotte’s sister’s husband all got this same cross tattoo as their way of honoring him.
“Reid’s probably laughing in heaven like, ‘You guys made fun of this tattoo. Well guess what? Now you all have it,” Charlotte said.
Finally, Charlotte has a tattoo on her right arm that says “A little patience.” This is another tribute to Reid and a reference to the Guns N’ Roses song “Patience,” which she and her brother used to sing together.
Another member of the Monday Night Raw women’s division with interesting tattoos is Paige, whose real name is Saraya-Jade Bevis. She has several tattoos on her hands, including an anchor referencing one of her favorite paintings, the word “Papi,” her nickname for her boyfriend Alberto Del Rio, and a mandala, which she says has no story behind it other than she liked the look of it.
Meanwhile, Roman Reigns has a Samoan tattoo which took 17 hours to complete, and AJ Styles has dates tattoos on him that represent the birth of his children.
