Many of the superstars on the WWE roster have interesting and creative tattoos, which are shown off every week during their performances. The designs often pique viewers’ curiosity as we all wonder what the significance of the performers’ ink is. Particularly intriguing is AJ Styles, who has a series of dates tattooed on his torso. What’s the significance of this?

On Styles’ right torso, underneath the giant “AJ,” there are several dates: 05-03-05, 02-14-07, 09-15-09, and 10-08-14. (Styles does not have the 10-08-14 one in the photo above because he got it just a few weeks ago.) As it turns out, these are the birthdays of his four children, who were born in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2014. And the giant letters above them don’t just represent his own name; they also represent the initials of all four of his children, who are named Ajay Jones, Avery Jones, Albey Jones and Anney Jones.

Styles got the first three date tattoos all at once in 2010, and in 2016, he added the 10-08-14 to represent the birthday of his daughter, who was born in October 2014. The WWE actually documented Styles receiving his fourth tattoo; the video can be viewed on the company’s website. In the segment, he says that he has always liked tattoos, but did not get any until later in life.

“I’ve always liked tattoos. I wanted it to mean something when I finally got one,” he said. “At the grand old age of 32, I decided, ‘I want my kids’ initials and birthdays,'” he said.

Styles is married to schoolteacher Wendy Jones, and he lives with his family in Gainesville, Georgia. He frequently posts photos of his wife and kids on social media.
