Fernando Torres sustained a nasty head injury during Thursday’s La Liga match. The above video shows Torres colliding with an opposing player and falling directly on his face.
Torres was taken off the field on a stretcher directly to the hospital where he will be kept overnight. Atletico Madrid is calling it a “traumatic brain injury”. The club tweeted out the following (translated into English): “PART medical @Torres suffers a traumatic brain injury. Was transferred to the hospital to make test. He will spend the night under observation.”
Torres received good news at the hospital. The club tweeted out (translated): “Good news @Torres has been le TAC cranial and cervical. Not there are alterations or injury trauma.” Torres was released from the hospital Friday morning. Here’s a look at him walking out:
The injury occurred in a 1-1 draw between Atletico Madrid and Deportivo la Coruna.
