Fantasy Football Team Names: Best Funny Titles for 2019

Fantasy Football Team Names

Getty Patrick Mahomes has become one of the most popular players in fantasy football.

Fantasy football can be an unpredictable game, but one thing we can always count on is having an awesome team name. This is part two of our look at the best fantasy football team names for 2019.

The 2019 fantasy season begins with plenty of uncertainty. Top running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Melvin Gordon are continuing their holdouts making drafting them in fantasy football a bit of a gamble.

A.J. Green will miss at least the first few games as he recovers from injury and is seeing his ADP continue to fall. Todd Gurley has been a fantasy stud, but plenty of questions were raised about his knee during the offseason. If anyone of the above players live up to their potential this season, the gamble could pay off for fantasy owners willing to take on a bit of risk.

As for the best strategy for your draft (aside from starting with a funny team name), try not to overthink it. People that head into their draft determined to select certain positions with each pick often miss out on the value offered to them. There can be a run at a certain position which offers value on a player you may not have previously expected to draft.

Organizing players in tiers can help you make difficult decisions during your draft. For example, there may be one player left in the top wide receiver tier, but you have five running backs ranked at approximately the same level. The wise move is to select the wide receiver while waiting until the next round for one of the remaining running backs.

As Your Fantasy Draft Progresses, Be Willing to Take More Risks

When you are making your first or second-round selections, there is no need to take a lot of risks. This is why you will not find Ezekiel Elliott on many of my teams because there are plenty of other options that, barring injury, will play the full season. There is a point where players like Green, Elliott and Gordon become appealing in drafts if your league continues to pass on them. As the draft progresses, you should be willing to take more risks.

By the time you hit the double-digit rounds, take flyers on players with a lot of upside. This could include rookies, players with injuries, suspensions or other serious question marks. At this point, what is the worst thing that can happen? The player underperforms and you end up cutting them from your team. However, if one of these late-round sleepers hit it could play a big part in you winning your league.
