Howard Cosell and the rise of Muhammad Ali are synonymous. Really, the broadcasting legend was the voice of generations of boxing and sports fans.
“Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!” Cosell yelled out in the first round of a 1973 fight between heavyweight champion Joe Frazier and top challenger George Foreman.
His commentary on Frazier’s first trip to the mat became one of the most iconic lines in the history of American sports broadcasting.
Now, in 2025, the heavyweight division’s influence has been reduced in recent years, especially for American audiences. But, Saturday’s super middleweight bout between Terence “Bud” Crawford (41-0) and Canelo Alvarez (63-2-2) is being billed as the “fight of the year.”
The big fight is airing on Netflix and is available to account holders for no additional cost. Here’s who is calling the fight.
