As it’s well-known by now, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is a social media fiend. The 50-year-old coach is never shy about voicing his opinions — even if he isn’t provoked.
Over the years, Kiffin has offered his lambasting opinions on a number of topics across college football. That includes the state of the sport itself, other coaches and even players.
On Friday, March 13, Kiffin, who appears to be enjoying the offseason before the Tigers gear up for their annual spring game in April, was seen taking what looked like a direct shot at former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck.
Lane Kiffin Takes Another Shot at Carson Beck
Kiffin posted a photo of himself standing on an outside basketball court with social media and former Miami Hurricanes’ women’s basketball stars Haley and Hanna Cavinder.
But it was the caption that quickly grabbed attention.
“Beat them like we did Beck in 24!! @CavinderHaley @CavinderHanna,” Kiffin wrote.
Beck and Hanna Cavinder were publicly linked during his time at Georgia and beginning after his transfer to Miami before the two ended their relationship in the spring of 2025. That connection made Kiffin’s tweet feel more pointed than a typical offseason jab.
What remains somewhat unclear, though, is why Kiffin continues to single out Beck in the first place. The two programs rarely crossed paths when Beck was at Georgia, and their history on the field is relatively limited. Yet Kiffin has taken multiple opportunities over the last year to reference Beck by name, whether through interviews or social media posts.
Beck, meanwhile, is coming off arguably the best season of his career. After transferring to Miami, he helped lead the Hurricanes all the way to the national championship game, beating Ole Miss in the semifinals.
Miami’s season ultimately ended in heartbreak after Beck threw the game-sealing interception that allowed Indiana to secure the victory, but the quarterback still played a major role in the Hurricanes’ run.
Lane Kiffin Previously Called Out Carson Beck’s NIL Deal
Kiffin’s public comments about Beck didn’t start with this latest social media post.
Georgia and Ole Miss didn’t meet often during Beck’s time in Athens because the programs were on opposite sides of the SEC. Still, Beck started twice against the Rebels, splitting those games.
The first meeting came in 2024 when No. 2 Georgia traveled to face No. 9 Ole Miss. Beck helped lead the Bulldogs to a dominant 52-17 win, throwing for 306 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while completing 18 of 25 passes.
The second meeting went much differently. One year later, No. 3 Georgia fell 28-10 at home to No. 16 Ole Miss. Beck finished 20-for-31 for 186 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while also losing one of two fumbles.
That performance later became a talking point for Kiffin when Beck’s reported NIL valuation began circulating after his move to Miami. Appearing on “The Pivot Podcast,” Kiffin openly questioned the price tag attached to the quarterback.
“Miami gave him $4.3 million? Did they watch his game against us?” Kiffin said.
Whether Kiffin’s latest tweet was simply another example of his well-known trolling style or something more personal is difficult to say. But given Beck has moved on to begin his NFL career, preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft, this was an odd move by the LSU coach.
