President Trump will be in attendance for the CFP National Championship between Miami and Indiana.

The College Football Playoff national championship game between the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes and No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers is sure to have plenty of special guests in attendance. One of those will now officially be President Donald Trump.

According to Axios, Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will both be in attendance at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens when the Hurricanes take on the Hoosiers at 7:30 p.m.

Trump, an avid sports fan, has been known to attend some of the country’s biggest sporting events, including the Super Bowl, Daytona 500 and Ryder Cup. Back in December, he was also on hand for another college football game when Army and Navy faced off in their 126th all-time meeting, where he participated in the coin toss.

This will mark the president’s second major sporting appearance in Miami in less than a year after he was seen sitting ringside at UFC 314 alongside Elon Musk.

While it’s unclear which team the president will be pulling for, there are several connections that could hint at where his interest lies.

President Trump Has Strong Ties To Miami

Trump may not show up sporting green and orange or wearing a Miami “U” hat, but his ties to the Hurricanes are notable.

For starters, Rubio was born and raised in Miami and represented Florida in the U.S. Senate from 2011 until 2025.

Perhaps the strongest connection, however, comes through Trump’s own family. According to David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump has committed to Miami.

“Trump’s granddaughter, 18-year-old Kai Trump, who is a senior at the Benjamin School, a private school in Palm Beach, has committed to play NCAA Division I golf for the Hurricanes after she graduates in May. Kai, who is Donald Trump Jr.’s daughter with ex-wife Vanessa Trump, is currently recovering from wrist surgery, per her Instagram.”

Miami-Indiana CFP National Championship Full Of Storylines

While the president’s attendance is always noteworthy, it may take a backseat once the Hurricanes and Hoosiers take the field.

Miami will be back at Hard Rock Stadium for the first time since Nov. 15. The Hurricanes have played seven consecutive games away from home, including their last five overall, with three of those coming in the College Football Playoff against No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 6 Ole Miss.

Indiana enters the matchup as the nation’s lone remaining undefeated team at 15-0 and is making its first national championship appearance in program history. Long viewed as one of college football’s most downtrodden programs, the Hoosiers’ rise has been one of the season’s most unexpected stories.

Indiana also boasts the Heisman Trophy winner in quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who happens to be a Miami native.

Needless to say, Miami will be the place to be on Jan. 19.
