Cameron Young is 18 holes away from the biggest moment of his career. But as he prepares for the final round at The Masters, his Sunday morning won’t look much different than any other.

Even with a green jacket within reach and Rory McIlroy among those in contention, Young says one thing won’t change: he still plans to go to church.

“I don’t think there’s one thing that’s going to change this week,” Young said after Saturday’s third round. “We’ll find somewhere and take the kids. We’ll do our usual.”

It’s a striking approach given the stakes. Young surged into contention on Saturday, putting himself in position for a potential breakthrough at Augusta National and a chance to capture his first major championship. For most players, a Sunday like this becomes all-consuming — every minute carefully planned, every distraction eliminated.

Young is taking a different route.

A Routine That Doesn’t Change

The 28-year-old has long made church a consistent part of his weekly routine, even during the grind of the PGA Tour schedule. Whether at home or on the road, he and his wife, Kelsey, prioritize finding a local service — often with their three young children in tow.

That won’t change just because he’s in the hunt at Augusta.

“I don’t know where we’re going to go yet,” Young said. “But we’ll find somewhere and take the kids. We’ll be out in full force just like usual.”

It’s a reminder that, even in the most pressure-packed moment of his professional life, Young is intent on maintaining a sense of normalcy.

Balancing Family and the Biggest Stage

Young’s perspective has been shaped as much by life off the course as his rise on it. Traveling with his family during the season has become a central part of how he manages the demands of tour life — even if it comes with its own challenges.

“The biggest thing for me is that it’s great to have them out on the road with me,” he said. “I love going home and seeing everybody after whatever day it is. I’d rather go home and see them after a great day, but just having them out on the road is awesome for me.”

That balance has helped ground him during a week that can easily overwhelm even the most experienced players.

And while a trip to church on Sunday morning may seem unconventional ahead of a career-defining round, for Young it’s simply part of staying centered.

A Massive Opportunity at Augusta

Once the final round begins, the focus shifts entirely to execution.

Young enters Sunday within striking distance of the lead, firmly in the mix at Augusta National and positioned to contend deep into the afternoon. The moment represents a defining opportunity for a player still searching for his first major title.

“I like the position I’m in,” Young said. “If you had said on Thursday I’d be in the final group on Sunday with a couple of guys chasing a green jacket, I would have taken it.”

The key, he added, is to avoid getting caught up in the moment.

“Anything can happen here, especially around the lead,” Young said. “Just try to keep doing what I’ve been doing, stay patient, and see what happens at the end.”

Keeping Perspective With a Green Jacket in Sight

For all the pressure that comes with a Masters Sunday, Young’s mindset remains rooted in perspective. Even as he stands on the brink of a life-changing victory, he’s focused on maintaining the routines that got him here.

That includes church.

“It would be an incredible day,” Young said of the possibility of winning at Augusta. “It’s something I’ve dreamed of for a long time.”

Before he chases that dream, though, he’ll spend part of his morning the same way he always does — with his family, keeping life as normal as possible.

Then he’ll head to Augusta National with a chance to change everything.
