The 2026 Masters Tournament has concluded, with Rory McIlroy securing his second consecutive green jacket at Augusta National Golf Club.
With the Masters complete, attention shifts to the next major championship on the PGA Tour calendar. The Masters traditionally begins a four-month stretch in which golf’s four major championships are played from April through July.
Next PGA Major Championship Date and Location
The next major championship is the PGA Championship, scheduled for May 14-17, 2026. The tournament will take place at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia.
Scottie Scheffler enters the event as the defending champion. Aronimink previously hosted a major championship in 1962, when Gary Player won the PGA Championship at the course.
The PGA Championship is the second of the four major tournaments held annually and typically features one of the strongest fields in professional golf.
Upcoming Major Championships After the PGA Championship
Following the PGA Championship, the next major is the U.S. Open, set for June 18-21, 2026, at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York. J.J. Spaun is the defending champion.
Shinnecock Hills last hosted a major in 2018, when Brooks Koepka won the U.S. Open.
The final major of the season is the British Open, scheduled for July 16-19, 2026, at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England. Scottie Scheffler is also the defending champion for that event. The last Open Championship held at Royal Birkdale was won by Jordan Spieth in 2017.
Together, these three tournaments complete the major championship schedule following the Masters.

PGA Tour Signature Event Format and Eligibility Explained
According to the PGA, there are eight Signature Events in the 2026 season. These limited-field tournaments feature a $20 million prize pool and award 700 FedExCup points to the winner.
Players qualify for Signature Events through several pathways, including finishing in the top 50 of the previous season’s FedExCup standings, ranking in the top 30 of the Official World Golf Ranking, or earning spots through the Aon Next 10 and Aon Swing 5 programs.
Some Signature Events include a 36-hole cut, while others do not. Player-hosted events such as the Memorial Tournament also feature a different prize distribution structure, with 20 percent of the purse awarded to the winner.
