Scottie Scheffler and wife Meredith Scheffler have had quite an eventful few weeks. Ahead of the Masters, the couple celebrated the birth of a new baby.
Scottie was joined at the Masters by wife Meredith and oldest son Bennett as Remy made his first public appearance. Ahead of the RBC Heritage, Scottie was also named to Time’s list of The 100 Most Influential People of 2026. Scottie admitted to being confused about the honor.
“I don’t really know, to be honest with you,” Scottie told reporters on April 16, 2026. “I don’t really know essentially what that means. I don’t know. … I’d much rather try to be a positive influence than a negative one. Yeah, I think if you do things the right way, and I feel like I can have some sort of influence over people, and being on the other side of things.
“I dreamed of growing up and being a professional golfer, and being able to achieve my dreams, I’m very fortunate to have been able to do that, but at the end of the day, like I said at The Open last year, that’s not what satisfies me. If I can be a positive influence on someone’s life, that’s a great thing. But at the end of the day, I don’t know if I’m the best role model.”

After the Masters Par 3 Tournament, Scottie took to Instagram to celebrate the family moment. Scottie posted a photo of himself and Meredith, who was holding the couple’s new baby in a pouch.
“This is what it’s all about!” Scottie said in an April 8, Instagram message. “Remy made his big debut and we are officially a family of four.”

Despite having a newborn at home, Scottie indicated that the new addition is not impacting his sleep. Ahead of the Masters, Scottie labeled his wife as a “trooper.”
“I’m getting plenty of sleep,” Scottie explained on April 7. “My wife’s a trooper. Yeah, having a newborn is always an interesting thing, but Remy is so young right now, they sleep a lot of the day.
“I think he’s used to being in the womb at this point. Yeah, I’ve been able to get a decent amount of sleep.”

The couple chose the name Remy for their new son. When asked about the meaning, Scottie admitted that the couple mostly just liked how the name sounded.
“Mer liked kind of the i, e, or y at the end of the name,” Scottie said in a pre-Masters media session. “We had Bennett first, and we can call him Bennie if we like the i-e. Remy was a name we liked. No real significance to it.
“We looked on the internet and found some stuff, but it’s quite metaphorical and a stretch for what the name means. I’m not going to share that. I’ll probably butcher it if I try, so I’ll get back to you on that. It was something that we liked, and that’s pretty much it.”
