Scottie Scheffler will be in one of the featured groups during the WM Phoenix Open.

Ending his streak of top-10 finishes didn’t stop Scottie Scheffler from joking around ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The world No. 1 golfer finished T12 at the Genesis Invitational his last time out, ending a record-setting run of 18 consecutive top-10 finishes. Any proud PGA Tour pro would want to put the end of the streak behind him. But not Scheffler, who poked fun at his game in front of the press on Wednesday.

“Went home, totally rebuilt it, reinvented the wheel in six days or however long I was home,” he told the media with a smile on his face.

Sure, it was just a little quip between an athlete and the press. But it told us everything we need to know about Scheffler’s game as he prepares to dominate at Bay Hill Club this weekend.

Why Scottie Scheffler is Ready for Another Streak

T12 be damned. Scottie Scheffler is clearly poised to return to the top 10.

For starters, Scheffler has already played well this season, too. He opened 2026 by winning the American Express, then finishing T3 at the Phoenix Open and T4 at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

And while Scheffler’s finish at Riviera ended his top-10 run, it also saw him make a miraculous comeback. The 20-time PGA Tour winner actually finished the rain-delayed first round T71 and five over par. He then rallied to get better each day, shooting a 68, 66, and a 65 to close out the wet and windy tournament.

“I’m not too concerned over a very small sample size,” he said Wednesday, via the Orlando Sentinel. “I’ve always been a guy that’s been really good at staying in the present, doing what I need to do in order to go out and play well. And so at 16 rounds, I’ve had 13 that have been really solid and three that haven’t been as good. So I’m still batting at a pretty nice percentage.

“If I wanted to dig deep into it, I could completely change how I approach tournaments, but I don’t think that would be very wise.”

Scheffler certainly wouldn’t want to mess with his groove before his return to Bay Hill lub. He won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2022 and 2024, and finished T3 in 2023. In his most recent victory, he finished an astounding 15 under par. If there’s a course on the PGA Tour schedule where Scheffler can climb back up the leaderboard, it’s this one.

Scottie Scheffler Betting Odds

Clearly, Scheffler is confident he’ll have his groove back this weekend. Do oddsmakers agree?

Perhaps it’s no surprise, given his past success, that Scheffler is listed at staggering -235 odds at DraftKings to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He is also the +340 betting favorite to win it all on Sunday, and listed at -136 odds to finish in the top five.

And what about the competition? World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is listed at +990 odds to top the leaderboard at the end of four rounds. (The Irishman is also listed at -180 odds to finish in the top 10.) Reigning FedEx Cup winner Tommy Fleetwood is next on the list, and a +1850 long shot to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
