Experience
Chelena is a San Francisco-based writer covering hockey, baseball, and golf for Heavy. The Bay Area native spent over a decade as a beat writer for the San Jose Sharks of the NHL, in addition to writing about a variety of sports and teams both locally and internationally. Following the pandemic, Chelena also took up betting and fantasy sports writingaand became a full-time betting writer for CBS Sports. Her other credits include NHL.com, NBC Sports Bay Area, YardBarker, and Athlon.
Education
Chelena transferred to San Francisco State University in 2007, following two years at Las Positas College, to major in journalism. She wrote on the sports desk for the journalism department-run newspaper, regularly covering women's basketball while helping with baseball and volleyball coverage. She also covered the men's rugby team as they transitioned from an obscure club to a university-recognized squad.
