Maybe it’s a little early to be thinking about trade ideas, but with the recent devastating news regarding the Detroit Tigers losing Tarik Skubal for at least the next few months to help remove loose bodies in his elbow, maybe now is the perfect time to make a move.
A recent predictions piece by FanSided’s Chris Landers finds ideal landing spots for 12 players that MLB executives may believe will be traded at some point before the August 3 trade deadline, and Angels outfielder Mike Trout somehow made the list as a possible candidate.

GettyThe Los Angeles Angels are struggling again. Keith Law of The Athletic pitched a potentially unpopular idea involving Mike Trout.

Tigers Surface as Top Landing Spot for Mike Trout

Per FanSided.com’s Landers, the Tigers are thought to be a top landing spot for Mike Trout:
“If Los Angeles does move on from the face of their franchise … I guess I could maybe see it for Detroit? The Tigers definitely need a center fielder given Parker Meadows‘ continued struggles to stay healthy and effective, and if they’re not retaining Skubal, there should be some payroll flexibility to burn. I wouldn’t necessarily advise burning it in this way, but with the way Trout’s hitting right now, there are worse ideas.”
Landers also makes it clear that it’s extremely hard to find a trade partner AND a package that could feature Mike Trout. The 3X AL MVP, who has a $427 million contract attached to him, would demand a huge haul, and not one that any MLB team would want to pay. However, I guess MLB fans and analysts want to see Mike Trout in the playoffs that badly…

Would the Tigers Want to Trade for Mike Trout?

Of course, the Tigers would want to trade for Mike Trout, but WANTing to trade for a player and being able to are two different things.
Let’s make it clear, the Angels owner Arte Moreno has made it clear that Trout will be staying put in Los Angeles. But again, are MLB fans criminals for wanting to see Trout in the MLB playoffs? And sure, the Angels could just make it outright, but how feasible is that?? Los Angeles is 13-22, and in last place in the AL West.
Mike Trout also has a no-trade clause attached to his huge MLB contract, so would he even waive that to move his family and whole world to Detroit?
