On Wednesday afternoon, the Los Angeles Dodgers face the Houston Astros in their three-game series finale.

Tyler Glasnow was the starting pitcher for the Dodgers, the right-handed pitcher however, only made it one inning.

In between innings, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and a trainer visited Glasnow on the mound during warmups.

After Glasnow’s departure, the Dodgers announced on X that Glasnow “left the game with low back pain.”

Tyler Glasnow Suffers Back Injury Against Houston Astros

A common theme for each Tyler Glasnow season is injury. In 2024, the 6′ 8” ace suffered an elbow sprain in August that kept him out of the postseason.

Last season, Glasnow was able to stay healthier, only experiencing shoulder inflammation and leg cramping.

However, it seems as if the 32-year-old is right on track. Glasnow was seen in some discomfort during warmups ahead of the bottom of the second inning.

Losing Glasnow is a huge blow to the Dodgers’ rotation, however, Blake Snell is working his way back from a shoulder injury. So the Dodgers are likely in for a one-for-one swap.

“The annual Tyler Glasnow injury has arrived,” Dodger Nation’s writer Blake Harris said on X. “Hopefully this one isn’t too serious and he’s back at some point in the coming weeks. At the very least, we know whose spot Blake Snell is going to take in the rotation when he comes back.”

Lower back tightness is what had Glasnow on the IL for three weeks in 2024. Glasnow was also scratched from a start last September against the Baltimore Orioles for the same problem, per Dodgers’ beat writer Jack Harris.

Glasnow has looked sharp to start 2026. The righty is 3-0 through seven starts and 39.2 frames, he has 49 strikeouts and a 2.72 ERA.

Tyler Glasnow Reaches Major Career Milestone With 1,000 K vs. Astros

Tyler Glasnow entered Wednesday’s game against the Houston Astros with 999 career strikeouts. The 32-year-old got the job done quick by retiring Yordan Alvarez in the first inning to record his 1,000th career K.

Glasnow broke Freddy Peralta’s record (804 2/3 innings) for the starting pitcher (minimum 50% of appearances as a starter) to reach 1,000 K’s in the fewest innings, per MLB.com’s Courtney Hollmon.

Unfortunately for Glasnow, the celebration of his career milestone was cut short due to an early exit after experiencing lower back pain.

Glasnow had a career-high 168 strikeouts in his first season with the team, during which he made his first All-Star Game. The right-handed pitcher followed up his 168 K’s the following season with 106.

Before his injury, Glasnow was on pace to break his career high.

The Dodgers have yet to make announcement about any further developments about Tyler Glasnow’s injury.
