Kiké Hernández is officially running it back with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The 34-year-old utility man confirmed the news himself Thursday morning with a post on Instagram that read, “What else did you expect?!!! Three in a row has a nice ring to it! #WeBack.”
Shortly after, multiple reports revealed Hernández agreed to a one-year, $4.5 million contract to return to Los Angeles for the 2026 season.
The move keeps one of the franchise’s most beloved figures in Dodger blue as the team chases a third straight World Series title.
President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman had hinted at a reunion earlier in the offseason, saying during the Winter Meetings, “We’ll never shut the door on Kiké.”
Now, that door is officially closed on free agency and open once again in Los Angeles.
Hernández will now enter his 13th major league season and his 10th with the Dodgers.
Kiké Hernández’s Postseason Heroics Cement Dodgers Legacy
While Hernández’s regular-season numbers dipped in 2025, his October résumé continues to define his legacy.
Across 92 postseason games with the Dodgers from 2016 to 2025, Hernández has hit 11 home runs with 33 RBIs and owns a .245/.324/.416 line.
In 103 career postseason games overall, he carries a .272 average and .826 OPS, consistently elevating his play when the stakes are highest.
His most unforgettable moment from the 2025 World Series came in Game 6 against Toronto.
In left field, Hernández charged in on an Andrés Giménez liner and, in one motion, fired to Miguel Rojas at second to complete a game-ending double play.
The play forced a decisive Game 7 and became a classic moment Dodger fans will never forget.
Kiké Hernández’s Versatility and Leadership Still Matter
Even at 34, Hernández remains one of the most versatile players in baseball.
In 2025, he appeared at five different positions and has played everywhere on the field except catcher during his Dodgers tenure.
Over nine seasons in Los Angeles, he has hit 95 home runs with 320 RBIs across 920 games.
He underwent offseason surgery on his left elbow and is not expected to be ready for Opening Day.
However, the Dodgers anticipate he will return early in the season and resume his familiar role.
For a roster loaded with stars, highlighted by the addition of Kyle Tucker this offseason, Hernández brings something just as valuable: dependable depth, defensive flexibility and proven postseason poise.
